12th Day of the Challenge

Today is the twelfth day of the challenge. I’ll tell you about my great day today.
In the morning, it was daylight savings time, so we I woke up at 11:30, but it was really 10:30. I was surprised I slept so long, but then my parents said it was daylight savings time. I was happy because then I would have missed breakfast where I had pancakes. Then, my mom told me we were going to someone’s house to celebrate the Indian Festival of Colors. It was great! We ate lunch then went outside to play “Holi” which means to put colored powder on other people to celebrate the festival. Then, we came back home. I played outside with my dad. We played basketball since we have a basketball hoop. It was fun. The game ended at 10-8. I won. We were playing by ones only. Then, it was dinnertime. For dessert, I ate some ice cream cake from a birthday last night. That was what ended the day.

10th Day of the Challenge

Today is the tenth day of the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll tell you about my 10th birthday.

Since it was my tenth birthday, my parents decided to give me 10 gifts! Some of which were and iPod touch 5, a soccer net, and Fifa 15. I thanked my parents so much! It was great! I didn’t know when my birthday party was and we were thinking of doing it with my dad’s birthday which is on June 12th. My parents were thinking something else though. They were going to give me a surprise birthday party! I was at a class on the Friday after my birthday. I was coming in the doorway, and when I rang the doorbell they yelled “SURPRISE!” It was such a surprise, that I fell down. I heard so much laughter. It was great though. My friend even got the tape on my iPod. We also got to have a sleepover. Only my five best friends were there for the surprise though. I loved it. “I hope it’ll be like this next year!” I said.

9th Day of the Challenge

Today is the ninth day of the slice of life challenge. I’ll tell you about my last birthday.

My birthday is on May 28, 2005. I was turning 11 in 2016. It was going to be a great birthday party. It was a sports birthday party. It started at 3:00 and ended with a sleepover with my best friends. We were getting ready when my cousin came over. They helped us set it up. Then, when we were all set for the birthday, my parents gave me a surprise! They gave me a USA soccer national team jersey. Then, after I got changed, my friends came over. When they all came, we went to the basement to eat. After we ate some food, we went outside to play soccer, since I had a soccer net. The final score was 10-8. I scored six goals, making me the “man of the match.” Then, we played football. The final score was 35-28, me scoring 21 points of the 35, making me the man of the match. Then, we played basketball. It was fun. We weren’t keeping track of the points of that match. Then, we went inside to eat pizza and cut the cake. After that, everybody who wasn’t staying for the sleepover left, while the rest of us played some 2k16 Blacktop that I got from my friend. It was great! Then, we slept in the basement on this really long bed. In the morning, we went outside since it was warm and played basketball and soccer. It was really fun. But, sadly everyone had to go after that. I can’t wait for next year.

8th Day of the Challenge

Today is the 8th day of the Challenge. I will tell you about today’s field trip. It was a field trip from Spectrum.

Today, we had the spectrum field trip. We went to this place called Exit Plan in Leesburg. It was really cool. There were three rooms. One was the Safe House, two was the Detention Room, and three was the S3R1AL killer room. I was in group 3, Safe House. It was really cool, but we had to wait for our turn. We were the third and last ones to go. Everyone that came out had to wait till we got there so that they didn’t spoil it.

While we were waiting we were given problem solving worksheets. We finished ours in our first thirty minutes and then realized we had about an hour and a half because one group would go for one hour, then the next would go for one hour.

We had our lunch at about 11:00. It was about forty-five minutes till it was our turn. When we finished lunch, we went to a different room where one guy that worked there was asking us riddles while we thought of the answers and said them out loud. It was finally 11:45, our turn! My dad was a chaperone, so he came in with us.

It was really cool. We had to search the whole place and look for clues. We finished that in about 10 minutes. Then we had to put our clues together to find even more hidden clues. There were all sorts of things that we had to get to and we had to hurry. There were two minutes left and we had to deactivate the bomb! There was one minute and forty seconds left when we deactivated it and got out. It was a great feeling. We deactivated it and finished! That was the end of our field trip and we went home. We thanked the guys who worked there and left!

If this sounded interesting to all of you guys, please try to visit Exit Plan, located in Leesburg.

6th Day of the Challenge

Today is the sixth day of the slice of life challenge. I will tell you about my all star tournament.

We started off by playing a team from Reston, but we beat them really easily wtih the score at 5-1!

Then, we played against a team from Herndon and we beat them easily too with the score at 5-2!

We had a big break this time, so my dad and I went to Dunkin Donuts. We headed to our next game. We were playing against the Prince William team. We were there on time, but their team was not, so they had to take a forfeit. That is outrageous! “It will mess up the field schedule” is what they said.

Then, we played against the first hard team, SYA. They were really tough, but we scored a goal. Then, they moved the ball extremely quickly and scored. The game was heated and they gave the ball to their best player who took the ball all the way down field and scored. Game over, 2-1.

The next day, our tournament continued. We were playing against a different Reston team and it was a great match. We scored our first goal off of a penalty kick. It was halftime after that. Immediately, they took the ball down field and scored to tie up the game. They stole it from us again and took the ball down the field. We only had two defenders! They scored to take the lead. Then our coach gave us a pep talk. “We need to win this game guys, it is the semis!” That gave us what was needed. We handed the ball to our best player and he scored to tie the game! Then, there were only three minutes left in the game! We were sure the game would go into penalties, but that didn’t happen. We got the ball and at the last second, we scored a goal! That was it. We won. 3-2!
The next match was against SYA in the finals. “We need to win this game guys,” is what my coach said. But it was hopeless. We lost. 3-0! It was so sad. We were freezing to death! We couldn’t move and soon enough, the game was over and we had lost. That was it. While they got big, huge trophies, we got tiny little glass thingies saying runner-up on them. I know we didn’t play well in the finals but I think we deserved more! But anyway, there’s always next season.

The Fifth Day of the Challenge

One fine day, my friend came over. We were playing soccer outside because I got a soccer net! It was really good. Then, we played a game where one person was goalie while the other was the striker. When we scored seven goals, we would switch.

Then, he took a really brick hard shot. I tried to save it, but it jammed my thumb really hard. I was really hurt so I went inside. He had to go since we went to the emergency room. It really hurt. We got to see a doctor and he told us it was a sprain and not a fracture, but it would have to be on for about four weeks till it completely heals. That meant I had to play four soccer games with that brace thing on. It felt weird, but at least in art I didn’t have to do much!

4th Day of the Challenge

Today is the fourth day of the Slice of Life Challenge. I’ll tell you about a final which I won.

Three seasons ago, we made it to the finals with a 6-2 record. We were in the recreational league while in the next season I did challenge.

It was game day. We were really energized because the previous season we got second place to the team we were competing against. That was when it started-the whistle. We were all really happy since we got the kickoff. I was the right striker against this really tall kid who was their left striker. I got the ball, but when I was about to shoot from outside the box, the kid fouled me! I really wish there were yellow cards in that time. He really deserved one. I got to shoot a free kick. I missed. Then, I got the ball again, dribbled to the outside, and crossed it into the middle where my teammate kicked the ball right into the net! 1-0! I was so excited. I got my first, and sadly, only assist of the game. The game started again and I got the ball. I swiftly dribbled past everybody and I took a shot on goal. Guess what. I made it! 2-0. The other team got the ball to kick off again. They moved past everyone and took a shot on goal. Our goalie made a phenomenal save. They got the ball again but this time we didn’t block it. They scored. 2-1. Halftime.

The second half started with their ball. They went past everyone except our one defender. The defender kicked the ball all the way down field. Guess who was down field ready to receive the and scored. That’s right! Me! It was my second and last goal. Then our team took it down the field again and we scored. The game was at 4-1! Then, the referee blew the whistle…………………We won! Our team’s sideline was in cheers while the other team’s sideline was in tears! We won our first championship ever! Then, we got the big, cool trophies and thanked my coach. But then, the season was over. I was sad because I really like to play soccer, but my coach reminded me that there was always next season. Yes, there is always next season to get better and better.

3rd Day of the Challenge

Today is the third day of the Slice of Life Challenge. I will tell you about the time I won a competition on TV.

On one Saturday, we had a competition called Quiztime. It is on an Indian TV channel. It was with four teams. My partner was Pranav who is in my class. We were Team York, while the other teams were Potomac, Rappahannock, and the James. All the rivers in Virginia.

There were three rounds. 1 – general round. 2 – sprint round. 3 – topic round. The general round is where we answer general questions, as it says in the name and you get 5 points per question. The sprint round is where we answer as fast as we can and we get 10 points per question. If we answer wrong, we lose 5 points. The topic round is where you pick a topic and you get 10 points if you get it right, but do not lose any points.

In the first round Pranav and I got 10 out of 15 points. The questions were pretty tough though. Then, in the second round, we got 80 straight points! We did not get a single one wrong. We ended up with 90 points at the end of that round. Then, in the third round, we picked the topic sports. We got 40 out of 50 points. Our last question was ¨Who is the National Chess Champion?¨ Why would I know that. We passed that. That was it. The moment of truth…………………………………….We won! It was great. We got a prize for first place. Then, it was all over. We all went home, since there was no reason to still stay there because it was over. That was one of the best days of my life!

2nd Day of the Challenge

Today is the second day of the challenge. I’ll tell you about the big loss in my soccer game.

Last season, my team went undefeated, 7-0-1. We were positive that we would win the finals. We were playing against the third place team who we beat earlier that season. We were hyped up for the game at 5:30. It was game time!

The whistle blew and the other team got to kickoff. They were on an electric start, but then one of our defenders took the ball and kicked it up field. We got the ball and one of my teammates scored a goal. It was 1-0! The whistle blew again and their fastest player got the ball and dribbled it all the down field and he crossed it into the middle. Everyone was holding their breaths. They scored off of a header that we could not defend. The score was 1-1. The referee blew the whistle and we got right back up. We took the ball down field and somebody slide tackled me in the penalty box. I got to kick a penalty kick. I could not handle the pressure. I missed. The other team was happy, while all but one of mine were extremely angry at me. I was determined to get back in the game and play better. But that backfired. They scored another goal. 2-1. Then our team was really trying harder. They scored another goal! Everyone was really, really trying hard. There were only 10 minutes left to play. We scored and I got an assist. 3-2. The game was extremely heated. Only 5 minutes! We had another last shot and we missed. That was it. Game over we lost, but showed good sportsmanship. That was one terrible game, especially since our team was undefeated.
